So. I am slowly learning how to think in music theory through midi with coding. There’s no getting around it. So I might as well get used to it. I’m quite looking forward to being set tasks in SuperCollider (SC). Particularly as I’ve learnt how to make chords, use scales in code, (trying my best to understand) the different modes and even combining Pbind’s together, using this through Logic and assigning the Pbind’s to separate Midi Channels I can now start to create music without instruments. I’m becoming a computer nerd and getting quite excited by it all.

I’m going to share a beautiful song called ‘Daisy’ by Karine Polwart which I love, and which also won Best Original Song at the 2007 Folk Awards, but mostly because she is playing @The Junction on 19th November

Another band coming to Cambridge on the 27th October @The Portland Arms, The Twilight Sad. Fantastic Post-Rock Quintet from Scotland.

And finally here’s a cool website I found a while ago after reading the album sleeve of one of my favourite CD’s (Yes. They really do still exist) and it gives you royalty free sounds to do whatever you choose to do with, with the only catch that you give reference to the file you have you used if you publish your work anywhere. I’m using samples from this site to make a beat, by mashing up noises not usually noted for their rhythmic structure, for the  FOEM session on Monday afternoon, wish me luck.
